Who I support

You might arrive here feeling anxious, low or overwhelmed. You might notice the same patterns repeating in relationships, or a harsh inner voice that has become so familiar it feels like fact. You may have learned to cope by adapting yourself to fit, by carrying responsibility that was never really yours, or by pushing feelings down until they are hard to reach. Sometimes there is a clear crisis. Sometimes there is only a quiet sense that something is not right.

I care deeply about offering a space where you can bring whatever feels difficult, tangled or too much to carry alone. It does not need to be neatly expressed. You do not need to arrive with certainty. What you feel in the room matters.

I work closely with neurodivergent adults, including those with ADHD and autism. I am particularly drawn to supporting people who have spent years feeling misunderstood, too much or not enough, or worn down from masking. Some feel exhausted from overthinking social interactions or questioning themselves in environments that never quite felt right. I approach your experience with curiosity and care, not assumption. You will not be asked to shrink or reshape yourself here.

I care deeply about supporting people navigating pregnancy and early parenthood, including fertility difficulties, miscarriage and baby loss. These experiences can bring grief, fear or shame that is difficult to name. They can be quietly devastating and deeply isolating. There is space here for the full reality of that.

I also work with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties and times of change. More than any diagnosis, I am interested in what it feels like to be you.

About me

Photograph of Eleanor Donald, from Elea Counselling.

I’m Eleanor, and Elea Counselling is my private practice. I work with adults in Hursley, near Winchester, and online, with some additional availability in Basingstoke.

At the heart of my work is the belief that therapy is a relationship. It matters that you feel able to sit with me and be yourself, even when that feels unfamiliar or difficult. I am attentive, thoughtful and engaged in the room, and I take seriously the trust involved in this work.

My approach is grounded in psychodynamic thinking, which means I am interested in how earlier experiences and relationships continue to shape how life feels now. Often these patterns are not immediately obvious. Taking time to notice and understand them can bring clarity and change.

I am a registered member of the BACP and practise in line with their Ethical Framework.

What to expect

Beginning counselling can feel like a significant step. I offer a short initial phone call so we can talk through what has led you here and so you can ask any questions. It is a chance to hear one another’s voice and to see whether meeting together feels like the right next step.

If we decide to begin, our first session offers space to settle and to start thinking about what feels most important. There is no need to prepare or know exactly what you want to say. We can begin wherever you are.

Sessions are held weekly at an agreed time and last 50 minutes. I usually work in an open ended way, allowing time for patterns and experiences to unfold rather than feeling rushed. Practical details, including fees and locations, can be found on my Practical Information page.

Where I work
